It's the Easter Holidays, the Sun is shining and it's lovely and warm so we've thought of some great 'just do' jobs that you can get on with in the garden while the weather is good before the dreaded April showers kick in! All these little jobs don't take long but they always get left until the last minute so why not embrace the weather, get your shoes on and get stuck in...
Garden Job Number 1 - Mow The Lawn
If you haven't done already now is a great time to give the lawn it's first mow of the Year. Whilst it's warm the grass is nice and dry and will keep a lovely green and fresh look if maintained regularly throughout the Spring & Summer Seasons.
Garden Job Number 2 - Clean The Trampoline
It's not going to be long before the kids are going to want to be jumping all weekend and after school so make sure the trampoline is all clean. Remember to check for any rust or anything nasty that may have found its way onto the trampoline over the Winter. Also, take a spanner and make sure all the nuts and bolts are safely secured - the last thing you want is for your trampoline to collapse whilst there's someone jumping up and down on it!
Garden Job Number 3 - Start Planting Vegetables & Flowers
If you visit any garden centre you'll soon see that they've all stocked up on flowers and vegetable seeds as it's nearing the time to start planting for the warm weather. Gardening doesn't have to be boring, make a game out of it, or assign job roles to the kids - one person can dig the hole, whilst the other plants, fills and waters. Remember to make it fair by swapping the roles!
Garden Job Number 4 - Check the BBQ Gas
There's nothing worse than deciding to have a Barbecue on a lovely warm day only to find you've not got enough gas. Why not check it now to avoid running into that very common problem? Also, you'll find that most gas suppliers like Homebase and B&Q will have better stocks now than when the usual heatwave hits the Country and everyone dashes out to get a replacement. You'll be sat at home smiling because you're already well prepared.
Top tip - Use what's left in your current gas bottle to burn away anything that may be still on the barbecue and give it a good old clean up so you're all nice and ready when the Warm weather arrives.
Garden Job Number 5 - Jet Wash the Patio & Decking
Every Year the patio and decking takes a pounding over the Winter months and usually ends up with a layer of dirt on it. This can be particularly slippery when wet so it's a good idea to wash it off before you start to use it regularly. A good quality jet wash will see the job done in record time and will make it look all fresh and new! Remember to wear wellies and some old clothes as no matter how hard you try, you'll always get splattered!
Garden Job Number 6 - Bask In The Sunshine!
It's not all about doing chores. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done, pop the kettle on and put your feet up whilst sitting on your nice clean patio looking at your freshly mown grass, newly planted vegetables and sparkly clean barbecue! When the Summer comes you'll be really happy that all those 'just do' jobs are all done.
